Lucas started his career when he co-founded a charity called The Association for Coastal Ecosystem Services (ACES) a charity conserving endangered mangrove forests near the Tanzanian border. Since then, Lucas has worked closer to home as co-founder and CEO at Citizen Zoo, whose mission is to rebuild a world filled with wildlife. Citizen Zoo’s focus is rewilding and community engagement, developing projects which have ranged from translocations, reintroductions, invasive species management and habitat restoration, to organising national events that bring practitioners, researchers and members of the public together, to help drive the sector forward.
